Sanju Samson is an Indian cricketer who hails from the state of Kerala. He was born on November 11, 1994, in Trivandrum, Kerala. Samson is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2015. He is known for his aggressive batting style and his ability to score runs quickly.

Early Life and Family:

Sanju Samson was born to Samson Viswanath, a police constable and Lijy Viswanath, a housewife. He has a younger brother named Saly Samson. Samson's father was a big cricket enthusiast and he used to take his son to the cricket ground to watch matches. Samson developed a keen interest in the sport and started playing cricket at the age of 11. He was trained at the Kerala Cricket Association Academy.

Domestic Career:

Sanju Samson made his domestic debut for Kerala in 2011 at the age of 16. He scored a century on his Ranji Trophy debut against Assam and became the youngest player to score a century in the tournament. He continued to perform consistently for Kerala in domestic cricket and was soon noticed by IPL franchises.

IPL Career:

Sanju Samson was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2012 IPL auction but he did not get a chance to play. In 2013, he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals and he made an immediate impact in his debut season. He scored 206 runs in 11 matches at an average of 25.75 and a strike rate of 156.06. He was awarded the "Best Young Player of the Tournament" award. Samson continued to play for the Rajasthan Royals until 2015. In 2016, he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and he played for them until 2019. In the 2020 IPL, he returned to the Rajasthan Royals and was appointed as the captain of the team.

International Career:

Sanju Samson made his international debut for India in a T20 match against Zimbabwe in 2015. He did not get a chance to bat in the match but he took a catch behind the stumps. He played his first T20I innings against Australia in 2016 and scored 19 runs.

Samson did not get a chance to play for India for a few years but he continued to perform well in domestic cricket and the IPL. He was recalled to the Indian team for the T20I series against Sri Lanka in 2020. In the second T20I, he scored 45 runs off 34 balls and was named the "Player of the Match". He played his first ODI match for India in March 2021 against England.

Records:

Sanju Samson has several records to his name. He is the youngest player to score a century in the Ranji Trophy. He is also the first player from Kerala to score a century in the IPL. In the 2018 IPL, he scored the fastest fifty in the tournament's history, reaching the landmark off just 19 balls. In the same match, he scored 92 runs off just 45 balls, which is his highest score in the IPL.
