Mohammad Shami is an Indian cricketer who is known for his pace and accuracy. He was born on September 3, 1990, in Sahaspur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Shami is a right-arm fast bowler who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2013. He is considered to be one of the best fast bowlers in the world and has represented India in all three formats of the game.

Early Life and Family:

Mohammad Shami was born to Tousif Ali and Anjum Ara in Sahaspur, Uttar Pradesh. His father was a farmer and Shami grew up in a small village in Uttar Pradesh. He was the fourth of seven siblings and his family struggled to make ends meet. Despite these challenges, Shami was passionate about cricket and would practice every day with a tennis ball.

Domestic Career:

Mohammad Shami made his domestic debut for Bengal in 2010. He impressed everyone with his pace and accuracy and was soon noticed by the national selectors. In his debut season, he took 42 wickets in 9 matches and helped Bengal reach the final of the Ranji Trophy.

International Career:

Mohammad Shami made his international debut for India in a ODI match against Pakistan in 2013. He took 9 wickets in his first two matches and was soon considered to be a key member of the Indian team. In his debut Test series against the West Indies, he took a five-wicket haul in his very first innings and became the second Indian bowler to achieve this feat. Shami continued to impress in international cricket and played a key role in India's victory in the 2015 World Cup. He took 17 wickets in the tournament and was the second-highest wicket-taker for India. In 2016, he became the second Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in a World Cup match.


Mohammad Shami has several records to his name. He is the fastest Indian bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets, achieving the feat in just 56 matches. He is also the second-fastest Indian bowler to reach 150 Test wickets, achieving the feat in just 38 matches. Shami is the first Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in a World Cup match. He also holds the record for the most wickets by an Indian bowler in the first 50 ODI matches.

Personal Life:

Mohammad Shami is married to Hasin Jahan and the couple has a daughter named Aairah Shami. In 2018, Jahan accused Shami of domestic violence and infidelity. The matter was investigated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Shami was cleared of all charges.
